- Left: Bruce prepares to brave the elements. The forecast was for strong winds but the weather was more threatening. This was our longest day – 63 miles and it included the Whimpering Hill. But no one predicted 25 to 30+ mile headwind, rain, sleet, hail and construction. Brenda and I decided we’d have to make a mad dash to Kerrville, empty the luggage from the van and rescue the riders. We were surprised that so few took up our offer for assistance. This is a hardy and serious set of cyclists.
